The St Peter and Paul parish was constructed in 1943-44 north east of Chaplin.  Bishop Andrew Roborecki celebrated Divine Liturgy in 1956 and 1969.  At its peak the St Peter and Paul Church had a membership of 60 souls. Rev. Father Basil Obarianyk was from the Thunder Creek area.  He was ordained at St. Basil's Parish in Regina on July 15, 1951.  He served in many parishes throughout Saskatchewan and was laid to rest at the St. Peter and Paul's cemetery.
